The Caucasus is famous for not only their hospitality but also fertile places to hunt and variety of animals. At the same has its own characteristics, time each region of the Caucasus and hunters have plenty to choose from. Hunting in the Caucasus is one of the most difficult mountain for hunts. You will be amazed by the grandeur of the Caucasian nature, blooming alpine meadows and rugged canyons, the rough mountain rivers and centuries-old frozen glaciers, steep mountains and clean air.

 

 

The climate of the Caucasus: continental, warm temperate, characterized by cold winter with snow cover, cold waves, hot summers with thunderstorms. The highest parts of the North Caucasus, covered with snow caps and glaciers. In the North Caucasus mountains glaciorization, the area of which this region takes the first place among all regions of Russia. Flowing rivers here are fed by water formed by melting glaciers.

Hunting season:  01 August - 30 November. Tour duration: 5 to 7 days.  Number of hunters: 1 to 3.

Place to hunt:

Karachay-Cherkessia - hunt for Kuban Tur and Caucasian chamois, that live in the rocky heights of mountains between 2100 and 3900 meters above sea level. The maximum height of the mountains in the hunting areas of 5000 m, while the line of constant snow cover at altitudes of 3500 m.

 

Kabardino-Balkaria - hunt for Mid-Caucasian Tur. The hunting grounds begin in the southern outskirts of the Chegem and Bezengi. Hunting is carried out in field conditions on inaccessible steep slopes.

Tours meet in remote areas at an altitude of almost 3,000 m or below in a wooded area at a height of 2300 m.

 

North Ossetia – Alania - hunt for Dagestan Tur and Caucasian chamois/ Animals that can be a good trophy inhabit the Alpine zone of the mountains at an altitude of over 3,000 meters. Hunting with the approach and requires from the hunter a good physical preparation and readiness to heavy transitions in the mountains and sleeping in tents. Besides mountain hunting involves a hunter shooting skills at long distances.

 

Dagestan - is the best way to experience the extent of their endurance and hunting skills is considered to be hunting just for Dagestan Tur. You must be ready for serious physical activity, but the prize that awaits hunters who will cope with this ordeal, really worthy of the effort. Accommodation during the hunt is in a tent camp.

 

Weather conditions in places hunting is unpredictable. Daytime temperature differs much from the night due to high altitude and surrounding glaciers. In the second half of the day usually the fog comes in. From August to mid-September, the daytime temperature rises to 22°/25°C, sometimes dropping to 3°/10°C. In mid-September - October daytime temperature is in the range from 10°C to 15°C, dropping at night to -5°/ 10°C. In early September, the mountain tops snow may fall.

Method of hunting:

Hunting in the Caucasus is approaching, accompanied by a professional hunter-Rangers. In most areas hunting takes place in field conditions, less used riding.

Captured animals are removed in inaccessible places on steep slopes and cliffs at an altitude of 3000– 3300 m. the Mountains are distinguished by steep slopes, a low content of oxygen significantly during upgrades to the hunting areas.

Shot on a trophy animal is made from a distance of 300 to 500 meters, often at a steep angle up or down. Recommend hunters to use a rifle with ammunition 338LM, 300Win Mag, 300WSM, 300RUM, 7 Rem Mag.

About region

The Caucasus is a predominantly mountainous region of Eurasia, located South of the East European plain, on the border of Europe and Asia. The region is limited by the Black sea from the West, the Caspian sea from the East. In the Caucasus there are fertile lands, major resorts and the highest peak of Russia - Elbrus and Everest.

 

The total area of the Caucasus mountains: 488 477 sq km.

Coordinates: 42°30" North latitude 45°00" East longitude.

 

Monetary unit: Russian ruble. The ruble is the only legal tender on the territory of Russia, but US dollars and Euros are also accepted for payment.

Visa requirements: Citizens of some CIS countries in accordance with intergovernmental agreements on mutual visa-free trips of citizens, a visa is not required. Citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine (90 days) for entrance to Russia the visa is not required.

The Declaration must be kept until departure from the country. Customs inspection can be long and detailed.

At the same time each region of the Caucasus has its own characteristics and hunters are staing in the camps or in the shepherds' sheep. There is everything necessary you need to gain strength before a long search for the trophy.

Equipment:

Hunters must wear clothing and footwear suitable to weather conditions in the region, convenient for sea hunting. Need to bring backpack, sleeping bag and Mat for a temporary camp. It is advisable to carry sunglasses and sunscreen, as well as a minimum stock of medicines, including for acclimatization.

Required documents:

Arriving hunters are provided with all the necessary documents:

— visa support (if required)

— permission to import-export of hunting equipment

— permit for the export of trophies, including CITES and the veterinary certificate.

— permission to enter the border zone.

The application must be submitted at least 3 months before the hunt.

Advance payment of 50% of the cost of the hunt is paid.

In case of refusal of hunting, the amount paid hunting is not refundable.

When wound a trophy and refusal to find a wounded animal, the cost of hunting is counted in full.
